Ten budding Cub sailors hit the water this evening at Fishmoor Reservoir in Blackburn and had a two-hour sailing taster session for their Stage One Sailing Badge. The Cubs all said they had great fun on their catamaran-like "fun boats", which provided the stability for them to pick up some speed and gain confidence without capsizing. Eden, our Young Leader, and Cub Scout Matilda went one step further and took out a Pico sailing dinghy, which was very impressive considering the wind speeds that evening! A big thank-you to Ray, Tom, John and all the other Splashu volunteers for making this special experience for our Cubs!
ASJ Scouts love a challenge and that's what they got, setting up camp in the relentless rain! Thankfully it brightened up on Saturday evening and despite the weather our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts had a fantastic time playing, canoeing, shooting, making model boats and orienteering! |
