Congratulations to Alex who won the Master of Arms trophy on Saturday 11 June, making it the third year running that a scout from ASJ Scout Group has won the award.
The Master of Arms Activity Badge is attained by attending at least six sessions where scouts are taught how to do archery correctly, to understand the safe use of equipment and how to manage safety on the range. The culmination of the award is to take part in a supervised competition, the winner of which is awarded the trophy. Alex said that he personally had additional pressure to win the competition as his older brother, David, has previously won and the sibling banter has been escalating for weeks! The competition is open to all scouts from the Chorley District who have previously attained the award, as well as all of those completing the award. It has run annually for the last five years and in total around 100 scouts have achieved the badge. Master of Arms will be running again next year and will start around March/April until June/July – keep an eye out for news about the competition in the District Newsletter or pick up information at the District Leaders’ Meetings.
