With clear starry skies, a full moon and very little wind the conditions were perfect for this year's "Journey with a Purpose", which is an exploration over two days and counts towards the Expedition Challenge Award Badge. The Scouts assembled at Hordern Stroops, near Winter Hill, and began the walk towards Anglezarke reservoir at 7pm in the evening, arriving at Bibbby's Farm campsite at 11.30pm. The walk had been carefully planned out by the scouts in previous weeks, working out the way points, bearings, land features to help them navigate the route - in the dark - laded with heavy rucksacks. The walk was great fun and the scouts assembled their tents in no time at all in the pitch black! The next morning's alarm call was provided by a pack of noisy Cubs in the next door field, but the Scouts had a hot breakfast to look forward to cooked on their trangia stoves. After breakfast, camp was quickly packed and the Scouts hiked back to the Scout Hut to go home for well deserved baths!
