The last two weeks we've had a great time working on our Digital Citizenship badge at Albany Academy's IT Suite.  Our leaders gave us different challenges to work on: interviewing Cath Hargreaves, our new Scout District Commissioner, interviewing Bill King, a SCOUTING LEGEND and founder of our Scout Group, writing emails to scout groups in Croatia and Germany and putting together an online survey to send out to Scout parents.

The following roles were allocated:

Website Editors (responsible for planning how the content will be displayed on the website, drafting the written articles to accompany the videos and leading on the more challenging web-based tasks):
  • Ben and Lewis
Interviewers (responsible for research regarding their interviewee and working closely with the Scriptwriters, cameramen and photographers. Ultimately unleashing their charm and charisma in front of the camera with their interviewee!)
  • Ellis and Joe
Cameramen (responsible for film footage of the Scouts working, planning the filming locations and practicing filming/uploading digital content using cameras & iPads):
  • Josh and Archie
Scriptwriters (responsible for collating and writing the interview questions) :
  • Eden and Amy
PR Managers (responsible for Tweeting and Facebook status updates, co-ordinating the correspondence with other Scout Groups in other countries and meeting and greeting Cath and Bill):
  • Alex and Louis
Group Photographers (responsible for taking photos of the Scouts working on their projects, working closely with the PR Managers and Cameramen to agree where and how the interviews will be recorded).
  • Oscar, Simon & Harvey

We learnt loads of new things including how to use PCs and software, how to take upload and edit photos and movies and holding a camera for a long time makes Josh's arm ache!  Some of us also taught our leaders a thing or two, like telling them what Instagram is and some cool game websites.

Thanks to Albany Academy for letting us use your IT Suite :)

Here are some photos of the Digital Citizen evenings!...
